Suspicious Email: "Your Apple Account Request" (But I didn't make a request)

I received a weird email from Apple. Subject is "Your Apple Account Request", and the body repeats that line and then says:

Dear [my first initial].,

Your request has been approved and you can now sign in to access your account ([myemailaddress]@gmail.com).

Apple

Here's the thing: I've not made any account requests, and the email address they mention IS my email address but it is NOT my Apple ID email address. I don't know that I have ever used the email address mentioned with Apple.

The email came from ""n*******y@apple.com <n******y@email.apple.com>" and that is the "reply to" address as well.

Super weird.
