How can I remove mail category icons on iOS 18.3?

Agree. Its an unnecessary annexation of very limited real estate on your phone’s screen.

To Disable Contact Photos in Mail:

If you are referring to that tiny icon, then I don’t think there is a way to remove that.

Go to Settings > Apps > Mail > Show Contact Photos and turn off.

Tap on the (...) icon at the top right of the mail app, then select List View from the menu.

How annoying!! Most of them are absolutely meaningless, and just clutter.

I will feed back to Apple support - not that it will make any difference ..............
