Mail on IPad started asking for Touch ID to ooen

Running 18.3 on my ipad and this morning when i went to check mail i was asked for Touch ID to open the app, something i have never been ask before ever! Search how to switch off, however none of the solutions were suitable for my ipad ( different menus etc). Anyone seen and or solved this.

A new feature within iPadOS 18 is the ability to hide or lock individual Apps - such that you must authenticate with TouchID (or FaceID) to access the App. By your description, you appear to have locked the Mail App.
