Why Eject disk and Erase is next to each other?
What genius came up with the idea that the "Eject" and Erase disk should be next to each other in drop down menu?

You will have to ask Apple...
Contact the corporate office Contact - How to Contact Us - Apple
To be proactive you can submit your Apple Feedback here: Product Feedback - Apple
Perhaps because they both start with E? I can’t see anything wrong with it.
if it is confusing to you, you can just drag the disc icon into the trash to eject it.
Just to add, in case you can't tell the difference, if you accidentally chose "Erase Disk…" you will get a dialog asking to confirm.
