iPhones Alert: "liquid detected" but no liquid and connection fails

Plugging 2 of my 3 lightning cable audio adaptors gets an alert from my 12Pro and my 14Pro: water in the connector. There isn't. Tjis is just a new thing it's started doing. I assume the connectors aren't right as one works but they look the same as the one that works and they worked for over a year.

Anyone?

iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 17

Get a bright light and a toothpick and clean the Lightning port.

However, as it happens on a 14 Pro also the most likely problem is defective cables or adapters.
