Watch Podcast Sync with iPhone Stuck on "Waiting"

Hello, Recently I'm having trouble getting my watch to sync podcast downloads with my phone. Watch is charging, phone is nearby with watch app opened to podcasts. The sync process is stuck and says waiting. I attached a screenshot of the phone. This now happens every time I try to sync. Recently I deleted/reinstalled the podcast app and after that process it successfully synced one time.

There is plenty of free storage on the watch. Installed are the most recent IOS and Watch OS.
