iOS TV app. Home Movies transfer to MacBook Pro finder

Hi

I have some of my own videos that are stored in the Home Videos section of the iOS TV app. The videos are my own and have no copyright etc. I would like to transfer these files to my Photos app or MacOS finder so I can share with friends who are in the videos.

I'd be massively grateful if someone could tell me how this is done.

I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max and a 13" MacBook Pro M2

Many thanks in advance

Home Sharing & TV Library: The Library tab in the TV app on an iPhone includes Home Sharing, which allows access to personal videos stored in the Apple TV library on a Mac. These videos are shared using System Settings > General > Sharing > Media Sharing, provided Home Sharing is enabled and the same Apple ID is used across devices.

Syncing & Viewing, Not Transferring: Home Sharing enables streaming from a Mac’s media library to an iPhone but does not download or store these files permanently on the iPhone. The iPhone accesses them remotely over Wi-Fi.

No Direct Transfer to Another Mac: Since the videos in the TV Library on an iPhone are being streamed rather than stored locally, there is no direct way to transfer them from the iPhone to another Mac.

  • Apple does not provide a built-in feature for moving media files from the TV app on an iPhone to a Mac.
  • The original Mac where the videos are stored would need to be used for any direct transfer to another Mac (e.g., via AirDrop, external drive, or network sharing).

On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Settings, click General in the sidebar, then click Sharing. · Click · Select the Home Sharing tickbox. · Enter your Apple ...

Set up media sharing on Mac

Hi, thank you for your reply.

If I use your third point to comment from.

I've been using Macs for 20 ish years.

I believe these videos were pushed to my phone via iTunes on a previous Mac. With each new Mac I do the automatic transfer from old to new. With each new iPhone I do the automatic set up. The videos have remained on my all iPhones I've owned since the videos were originally transferred.

The videos exist in my phone, but they are not on my MacBook Pro, and I can't locate them in iCloud. I would find it hard to understand why Apple would want to prevent me from having access to my own content.

Are you able to say where they being streamed from? Is there somewhere in my iCloud that I should be able to find them. These are my personal videos of myself and friends that somehow have ended up in the Home Videos of the TV app possible via the old iTunes.

I really appreciate you taking time out to answer my question.

Many thanks
