How to remove alias created with "me.com" email account?

Create a "me.com" email account a long time ago and created an alias to go with it.

I no longer want to use this "me.com" icloud account and want to free up the alias to use with a different iCloud account. In my iCloud Mail settings: it shows that i have 3 Alias remaining:

Upon logging in, I see that the alias turned into a Primary Address and I am not able to delete it.

Is there a way to delete the alias? I've tried everything in support.
