iPhone 16 Pro Max stuck on welcome screen after initial update

brand new iphone 16 pro started the setup process face id and all worked fine but it froze whilst updating so i restarted the phone and now can’t get into the phone past the welcome screen the passcode key comes up for a second and then disappears same thing when trying to restart it.

Hello,

Press and quickly release the volume up button.
Press and quickly release the volume down button.
Press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo (could be as long as 30 seconds)

The timing is a little critical, you may have to try it several times. See this for more detail:
