QuickTime audio stops playing during video editing on Mac

It seems like the audio isn't working on Quicktime, after I have recorded a video, and am editing it. I begin editing and all's well, then it stops playing the sound. After I save and quit, i play it and the sound is there again. FRUSTRATING.
