Face ID Issue on iPhone 16 Pro Max

Hello everyone,

I purchased an iPhone 16 Pro Max two months ago. Today, I encountered an issue where I received a message stating:

"Face ID has been detected with a problem."

I updated my phone to the latest iOS version, but the issue was not resolved. I even performed a factory reset and set up the device as new, yet the Face ID still does not work.

The phone has never been dropped, scratched, or damaged in any way.

In this case, do Apple specialists repair the device or replace it?

Wishing you all a great day, and I appreciate any solutions or guidance you can provide.

Stuff happens. That’s what warranties are for; contact Apple support. If it is a hardware issue they will replace the iPhone with either a new or an Apple refurbished at their option.

Best way:

  • Install the Apple Support app on your iPhone or iPad - you can contact support directly from the app, and the tech will have (with your permission) access to diagnostic data on your device

Other options:

(Note that both of the above have options to receive a callback or chat)

There may be something wrong with your TrueDepth camera. Please review the following articles.

If Face ID isn't working on your iPhone or iPad Pro - Apple Support

If an alert says Face ID has an issue on your iPhone or iPad Pro - Apple Support

If the above doesn’t help, please make a reservation at your nearest Apple Store Genius Bar or Apple Authorized Service Provider for diagnostics.
