How can I prevent volume changes with Visual Intelligence on iPhone 16 Pro Max?

Relevant info: iPhone 16 ProMax, latest update (18.3.1) installed.

I almost always keep my phone on silent but ringer at max volume (for alarms), and my "media volume" (what you would control in the control panel) on zero. Whenever I open visual intelligence, it automatically changes my volume--usually by putting my volume at max volume and putting my ringer at zero. Then, when I try and change my volume and put it all the way down, it automatically bumps my volume up one notch. Additionally, my ringer and media volume are conflated now (if I put my media volume up or down, the same thing happens to my ringer volume, and vice versa).

Has anybody else experienced this problem? I haven't been able to find it documented anywhere.

Seems like you are using a third-party app Visual Intelligence.

There’s no official iOS feature that automatically adjusts the volume when opening Visual Look Up, but a few things could be happening.

Apps generally can't control system volume directly: Apps can suggest volume changes (like when you're in a music player and use the volume buttons), but they can't usually override the user's settings or force the volume to maximum or the ringer to zero without explicit user interaction.

If you encounter any challenges with third-party applications, the best course of action is to directly contact the app developer for further assistance. App Support

Here's a brief guide on how to do it:

  1. Identify the app developer.
  2. Visit their website or app store listing.
  3. Look for their contact information or support channels.
  4. Clearly describe the issue you are facing.
  5. Provide any necessary information they may need.
  6. Follow their instructions and provide feedback.
  7. Be patient and follow up if needed.

By reaching out to the app developer, you increase your chances of receiving accurate and personalized support for the challenges you're experiencing. To contact an App developer --> How to contact an app developer - Apple Support
