Will a higher wattage adapter than 12W damage my iPad?
12W USB Power Adapter for my ipad pro 12.9-inch appears to have died. i need to replace but not sure if getting higher than 12W will damage ipad.

Using a higher output Power Adapter will not harm a healthy iPad. Your iPad will only draw the power that it requires - and no more - from the connected Power Source. Your iPad requires a minimum of 12W (i.e. 2.4A @5V) to reliably charge.
Most models of iPad will benefit from using a Power Adapter rated at 20W or greater - in particular iPad Pro models that can employ fast charging.
If using a USB-C Power Adapter (and appropriate charging cable), ensure that the Power Adapter supports USB PD (Power Delivery). Apple devices do not support proprietary charging standards such QC (Quick Charge). All Apple USB-C Power Adapters support USB PD and are compatible with iPad.
