Line across screen on 2023 MacBook Pro M2 Max

About a month ago I noticed that there was a thin gray or black line running across the screen of my 2023 M2 Max MacBook Pro. I'm not sure how long it's been there, because my computer is set to dark mode, which sort of camouflages it. The line flickers a bit when I move the pointer around the screen but never goes away.

Any ideas what's causing this and how to fix it? Thanks!

the classic debugging technique for screen artifacts is to take a screenshot of some area of the display that includes at least a portion of the artifact. Then examine it carefully in large size, and move it around the screen.

¿is the artifact captured in the screen-shot?

--Yes, then the defect is in the Mac screen buffer

--No, then the defect is likely limited to the display itself.
