How can I revert MacBook Air using iCloud Drive as optimize storage?

When I store documents on my Mac, it prefers to store them on iCloud Drive. Which I do not want.

I want to be able to store documents in my own order and not on iCloud drive. I was so stupid to press a button "optimize storage", and then I was trapped! Can anyone show me how I can revert this?

I have to come back to you.

I may have done something I should not have done. I have been used to that documents of any type were automatically saved once I pressed the red button. This does not seem to work any more (It may be my fault...). Now I have to go to file - save, or file - save as.

Is there any way I can have the function of automatic saving back once I press the red button?

Thank you in advance. :-)
