How can I resolve keyboard and touchpad issues on MacBook Air?

I replaced the logicboard and harddrive on my MacBook Air. When the device boot up, the keyboard and touchpad works find. I'm able to type in my password. Once I'm signed in, the keyboard and touchpad both stop working. I've tried Activity Monitor, turning FireVault on and off, resetting the SMC, etc.

You still have not told us which MacBook Air this is. There have been over two dozen released since 2008.

We also don't know which version of macOS the computer is running.

I don't understand why you describe the logic board and HD as new with quotes. Are they factory new or not?

You've been using an external keyboard and mouse to launch Activity Monitor, yes?

Try resetting the NVRAM. The NVRAM is a special memory section on your Mac that stores data that persists even when the Mac is shut off, such as volume settings and screen resolution - it's the information the computer uses to maintain settings after a reboot. You may have to do this several times because sometimes that's what it takes to stick. Press and hold the keys at startup until you hear the Mac chime 3-4 times, then release.

You don't say what year this MBA is.

You haven't said if this was a new logic board or one pulled from salvage.

Did you do the work yourself or contract it out to a service provider?

Very possibly you have another bad logic board.

If a simple reboot of your Mac doesn’t fix things, see if the problem still happens in safe mode.

How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

Safe mode will often correct weird software behavior by forcing the OS to do disk repair, clear caches and other housekeeping and temporarily disables third-party mods. When you're in safe boot, the machine won’t be at its best performance, especially with graphics, but that's expected.

Does the same thing happen while in Safe mode?

You can exit safe mode by restarting your Mac normally, then reevaluate the problem.
