How can I force restart a frozen iPhone during an update?

I cannot force a restart - my phone is frozen in update screen

  • Quickly press and release volume up button
  • Then immediately press and quickly release volume down button
  • Then immediately press and keep holding the side power button. KEEP HOLDING the button past the swipe to power off and KEEP HOLDING the button until you see the Apple Logo no matter how long it takes to see the Apple Logo, then let go

You are tapping the UP button quickly and releasing and tapping the DOWN button quickly and releasing and holding down the Side button while ignoring the slider when it appears and continuing to hold the Side button in until the Apple icon appears in the center of the screen, then releasing the Side button. Is this correct?


The Forced Restart will always work......unless there is a hardware problem with the phone.
