Extremely slow transfer of files

I’m trying to duplicate my ssd to another ssd but the transfer rate is ridiculously slow! For instance copying a 4tb hard drive takes a little over 2 days! Copying a folder that contains 730 gb takes 10 hours!

is this normal? I have 3 M1’s that use 3 ssd drives for my DJ business. I try to keep them all updated with the same files (we make downloads on the fly) but this is ridiculous!

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 15.1

Lock TBs and GBs of DTR on a Mac:

Yes. This is typical. Your Mac is what is performing this data transfer. It is not intended for TBs and TBs of data transfer; that is what a server is intended for. So, one thing to conserve is to purchase an external drive that you can hook up to your router, and she the data from drive to drive. This would not be a standalone option for these drive, unless they have an Ethernet Connection. As for the speed of that, uploading them would depend on the speed of your router. So, upgrade to one that is made for lots of network traffic.
