MacBook Clock Not Updating After Sleep or Shutdown

I have a 2019 Macbook pro running on sequoia 15.3

Whenever the device goes to sleep or is shut down, the system clock stops updating. When I wake it up or power it back on, the clock still shows the time from when it went to sleep or shut down.

I've tried basic troubleshooting steps like restarting and checking my Date & Time settings to ensure "Set date and time automatically" is enabled, but the issue persists. I have been manually going into the terminal and running the time sync command which usually works but sometimes I get this error:

Any insights? Macbook is a little old so could just be the hardware

re: < sudo sntp -sS time.apple.com >

if the plist is corrupt, try removing it.

Removing the plist from the Terminal.app copy & paste:

sudo rm /var/db/timed/com.apple.timed.plist

reboot and compare your results.
