Phishing text?

I received a text from:

9**-7**-***3

it read:

Apple pay notice: Your apple id has been charged with $128.13 via apple pay at the apple store. If not done by you, contact apple care team 1-**5-**4-***0

i do not have any payment methods saved to my Apple Pay or Wallet.

I also keep getting emails stating that my apple account has been suspended due to violating apple policy. When I look at the “from” it is not an Apple official account.

am I safe if I changed my PW and delete these messages without clicking any links or calling the phone numbers listed?

You're fine. You didn't even need to change your password. This was a clear Phishing attempt. You don't owe the money. They don't know you. They can't charge you anything. They're just hoping you're dumb enough to click the link and provide the information they need to get your money.

For messages like these, the best things to do are:

  • Ignore
