Got a email saying it’s iCloud that I needed to update my payment. My card that’s on file is good and when I hit on the link, it went to Google what’s going on?

Without seeing the message, the chances are it's spam, trying to trick you into posting your account details to some fraud site.
Check your account settings (including payment methods) at https://account.apple.com/ )and disregard the email.
