My MacBook Pro won't power up unless plugged in even if partly charged

So I came to recognize that my MacBook Pro from 2018 (Intel CPU) started to show an empty battery symbol when trying to power it up even if the battery is at least partly charged.

Once I plug the Mac in and it powered up, it shows a partly charged battery at 30-50% depending on how fully it was charged when I last closed the lit.

Is this a common behavior? Is there a way to fix it?

Thanks for any help :)

Unfortunately it is a common "feature" in my experience supporting my organization's Macs. I suspect a system firmware issue or hardware issue with the Logic Board since I've seen the same behavior even with a brand new Apple OEM battery freshly installed.

Of course an original battery in a 2018 model laptop could be wearing out or failing since most Lithium batteries need to be replaced between 3-5 years old. If the Battery Condition reported by macOS is "Service Recommended" and you are having issues, then the battery may need to be replaced.
