How can I fix an iMac that won't reboot?

imac is just stuck waiting to reboot....scroll bar moves very slowly but it never reboots

The computer's hard disk has likely crashed. Due to the computers advanced age you should seriously consider replacing it, is is also obsolete, has no commercial value, and is considered vintage by Apple.


You do not necessarily need another iMac, there are great alternatives (Mac mini, MacBook Air, etc...) and worlds faster and better overall performance than your very old Mac.
