Terminal Freezes when creating a new terminal window

If I have a terminal opened and try to create a new terminal window by clicking file > new window then all terminal windows freeze. Even the dropdown menu stays still and it is not possible to remove it. The only way to fix it is to restart the mac

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 15.3

I've encountered this bug as well with different versions of macOS. Just make sure you actually select an option on the sub menu and you won't have this problem. If you release the click while on a menu item with a sub menu, then the Terminal app has a chance of freezing requiring a Force Quit of the Terminal app.

Or follow @leroydouglas' suggestion to use the shortcut keys to access a sub menu item.

seems odd...

restart the Mac(?) you can Force Quit the Terminal from the  drop down

I use Command N for a new window with no issues

is this the default profile? Terminal>Settings>
