Print Center Quit Unexpectedly appears when printing - macOS Sequoia - SOLVED
Since upgrading to macOS Sequoia: Whenever I go to print a document I got a dialog box saying, “Print Center quit unexpectedly” with pages of diagnostic report attached and OK & Reopen buttons at the bottom. However, my printer proceeded to print the job as usual. Clicking the Reopen button in the dialog box just causes the box to momentarily disappear then reappear.
Using macOS Sequoia 15.3.1, MacBook Pro M2
Only one printer, connected by USB: Brother MFC-L 5900DW
SOLVED:
1. Set up a Test user, logged in, upon printing a sample Pages document Print Center Quit Unexpectedly dialog does not show.
2. Removed printer from Settings > Printers and Scanners.
3. Removed seven files to the Desktop from: Library > Preferences > com.apple.print. . . including com.apple.printcenter.plist (these regenerate when macOS is restarted and the printer is added back). Also removed a folder in Library > Preferences named Brother, which contained three files named com.brother.ControlCenter.plist, com.brother.twain.plist, com.brother.twain.RegisteredDevice.plist .
4. Restarted macOS and added back the printer in Settings > Printers and Scanners
5. Tried printing from my normal user account and Print Center Quit Unexpectedly dialog does not show :^)
6. Moved to Trash: the seven files and the Brother folder previously dragged to Desktop from Library > Preferences .
