Why is my phone recording I have this sign on the upper left when I make calls. How do I get this thing out when I make a call
When I make a phone call, I have it start recording and something on the left upper phone

That symbol does not mean your iPhone is automatically recording your calls, but rather a button you must manually press to record your calls. If you want to remove this feature entirely, you can do so in Settings > Apps > Phone > Call Recording, and turn off.

In addition to it being introduced in iOS 18.1, it was turned on by default.
The only time or way you can transcribe a call is to tap the button on the upper left, which also lets the person you called that the call will be recorded. So don't tap the button and you won't record the call.

The feature actually arrived with iOS 18.1, but if you skipped some updates, then went to 18.3.1, you'd get it with 18.3.1. Again, your calls are not being recorded unless you tap the button to record a call.
