How can I erase my iMac running macOS Big Sur?

I cannot seem to erase the content on my iMac OS Big Sur. I’ve tried everything and I can’t seem to find where to go.

Can you please help thank you

Have you tried the built in Erase Assistant, or Recovery? If so, try these steps...


  1. Restart Your Mac.
  2. While your Mac wakes up, hold down Command +R keys simultaneously. ... 
  3. Select Disk Utility.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. Select View.
  6. Click on Show All Devices.
  7. Choose your Startup disk (Usually named “Apple SSD”)
  8. Click on Erase.
