iOS 18.3 Causing Internet Connectivity Issues With My Starlink System
I live in the mountains with no cellphone, cable, fiber, DSL, or line-of-site radio connectivity. I used HughesNet for a while, but it was expensive, slow, data limited and problematic. I switched to Starlink as soon as I could and it has been great!
I recently installed the updates to iOS 18.3 on our iPhone 13s, and iOS 17.7.5 on our iPads, and, unfortunately, I no longer have reliable internet connectivity. I am aware of the beta testing to allow connection to Starlink satellites, if you are a T-Mobile user and opt in, but that does not apply to me since I am on Verizon.
On my Apple devices only: My internet, via Starlink and Starlink's wifi router, either does not connect, drops out after connecting, and runs slow if it stays connected for any length of time. Other network connected devices (DirecTV, security cameras, PCs, etc.) work just fine.
I have tried airplane mode, restarting devices, resetting network settings, restarting router, disabling VPNs, changing wifi settings (fixed IP, limiting tracking), etc., with no luck. I have even switched to using a 2.4Ghz network, also with no luck.
I upgraded to 18.3.1 as soon as it came out, also with no change. I tried the above, again, with no change.
Apparently the 18.3 iOS did more than just allow T-Mobile beta users to test a possible future feature, it negatively impacted existing Starlink users as well. I am so disgusted with apple that I am thinking about trashing all devices just to be done with them.
Anyone else have similar issues? Any idea on how to restore my internet access on my Apple products?
