Help-Apple Account Gmail Verification Prompt on Mother iPhone 8

Hi,

I serve as my mother's personal IT support, particularly for her Apple devices. However, she's been experiencing an issue that I don’t know how to resolve. Over the past few days, her iPhone 8 has been prompting her for Apple Account Verification, requesting a password for an Apple account linked to a Gmail address. I know I didn't set up her Apple account with a Gmail address, and when I checked Google's email lookup for account verification, I found no such email associated with her.

This raises concerns that someone might be attempting to gain access to her information through her Apple device. We also looked for any old emails that might have been forgotten, but we couldn't find anything.

How can I help her remove these prompts and resolve this situation?

Is it requesting a password or an authentication code?

If you open Settings and tap on her name at the top of the screen is her Apple ID correct?

Can she log in to gmail with the similar email address, or reset the password for it?

Also consider this→If you think your Apple ID has been compromised - Apple Support

And log in to https://appleid.apple.com and see if the iPhone is listed.

The photo shows the system prompt with an email she doesn't know asking for a password. I went into her settings, and her Apple ID was correct so that she could sign in.

However, this system prompt keeps reappearing.

She purchased her iPhone new, and the Verizon store set it up while I was with her. She has had this phone for several years. The email shown in the screenshot is similar to her Gmail address but is not identical.

Please note that these prompts appeared just a few days ago, and she has never encountered them before.

That’s why I am seeking guidance on the next steps to take.

No, the email the email does not exist in the Google email system.

The email address she actually owns is completely separate and allows her to log in without any issues.

Additionally, my mother's Apple ID is not related to Google at all. I checked her account, and it's secure.

I have already checked her Apple ID and she is able to sign in.

The system prompt is showing an email that is not associated to her and asking for a password
