Apple Mail not accepting Hotmail/outlook anymore

For a while now my outlook/hotmail account keeps telling me that the password / email is incorrect via the Mail app - this was incorrect as they both were 100% right. I thought it might be to do with having an older mac (2012 imac) but having recently upgraded to a silicon mac, i'm still having the same issue and can't seem to find a fix

I'd really prefer not to use 2 different desktop apps to access my various mail accounts
