unable to boot Mac T2 using external disk

Hello Team,

I tried to use this "About Startup Security Utility on a Mac with the Apple T2 Security Chip - Apple Support" but it does show me only 2 options

Full Security - Allow to boot only current OS

Reduced Security - Allow to boot other kernels

There is no option to choose external devices. Can you help, how can I boot using external devices ?

If you want to have an external macOS boot drive on an M-series Mac, then you must use a macOS installer (Recovery Mode or USB) to install macOS onto the external drive. However, you cannot use the DFU USB-C port while installing macOS.

Here is an Apple article with instructions for installing macOS onto an external USB drive:

Install macOS on an external storage device and use it as a startup disk - Apple Support

The very odd unusual, but critical important note:

If you're using a Mac with Apple silicon, plug your storage device into any compatible port except the DFU port. Learn how to identify the DFU port. After macOS installation is complete, you can connect your storage device to any compatible port, including the DFU port.
