After 18.3.1 update, iMessages appear on Apple Watch but not on iPhone

iPhone updated to 18.3.1. Now iMessages appear on Apple Watch but not on iPhone. Problem appears with multiple single contacts (have not checked group threads). Tried rebooting both phone and watch; tried turning ICloud backup for messages off, reboot, restart both, turn iCloud backup back on, then sync now. Error persists.

iPhone 13 Pro Max, iOS 18

Same for me. I am only able to send iMessages to 1 of my contacts. Other than that, all messages go through text. Also, it will not allow me to log on to iMessages on my Mac, it boots me immediately. Went to Apple Store and spoke to representatives on phones and they had no solutions….said it must be an update issue.
