How do I open .png files on my iMac using a web browser?

I received 2 .png files from apple support, and can't open them. Enquiring with Safari tells me that almost any web browser, can open said files. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your help. Randy

In Safari, press Command-O (⌘O) or click File > Open File... and then navigate within that window to the folder where those .png files are located. Select the file and click "Open".

You should also be able to open them with the Preview app simply by double-clicking the file.

There is nothing particularly special about a typical .png file.
