Wondering which Mac model (year) you are using,
and
which MacOS version is installed on your Mac.
Eg: Your software may need updating to the newest compatible MacOS version.
You may want to check if an update is available:
ie: System Settings (or Preferences > General > Software updates
If you decide to update (or upgrade): A friendly reminder: It is always wise to back-up Mac beforehand.

If Mac is already up-to-date : If you haven't tried it already:
You may want to try restarting your Mac (Apple menu > Restart) (ie: deletes temporary files, re-establishes connections, may update recent setting changes, and often restores order if something is not working as expected.)

If you have any un-necessary third-party (non-Apple) ad-blockers, virus-checkers, cleaners, and the like (even VPN) installed, they can cause interference; eg: you may want to try turning them off, or use uninstallers from the developers.
Any necessary third-party apps need to be kept up-to-date to side-step issues.
(Eg: Incompatibility with a more recent MacOS can cause unwelcome interference.
