What's the difference between deleting and off-loading an app on iPhone?

What’s the difference between the two? If I want to fully delete something should I off-load the app/game first then delete or just delete from IPhone storage tab in settings.

Do you have any data stored on your device from that app? I recall another user you offloaded a recording app and when searching for the app, one of the recordings that had been saved showed up with the generic logo since the app to open it had been removed. If there is data from that app, it should show in Settings under your iPhone Storage, and if nothing there, also check your iCloud storage by going to Settings > [name on top] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage.

What do I need to do to fix that? Factory reset?

Use the iPhone for a while, and see if it persists. Or if it disappears and does not reappear, as I suspect will happen here.

Given what happened in this particular case, having a missing icon (for a missing app) isn’t all that surprising.

Offloading apps just isn’t all that common of a discussion.
