What is CDMA EV-DO Rev. A?

I am considering upgrading from iPhone 13 to iPhone 16 or iPhone 16 Plus. In my research, the tech specs say that my iPhone 13 has something called "CDMA EV-DO Rev. A". When comparing it to the other 2 phones, the 16 and 16 Plus do not have "CDMA EV-DO Rev. A". To my knowledge, it is a 3G feature, so should I just let it go since I have 5G now? Does this mean it is outdated?

It really depends on what country you’re in. Some countries still support 3G. In addition, some satellite services appear to be using CDMA for cell phone connections. CDMA is a communication standard involving multiplexing (mixing multiple connections on the same wavelength) and compression of data to effectively increase file sizes and transfer speeds.

Bottom line, it doesn’t hurt to have it and could affect some communications in the future.
