Skype stopped working on my Macbook Air

I had been using Skype on my Macbook Air OS 10.12.6 since September of 2023 for a weekly family video call with no problem. I used it last on Feb 12, 2025. Then last night I could not get past the Update Required screen to answer the call. I tried the latest update but it will not work on my older OS.

Next I downloaded an older version of Skype from Updown (8-73-0-92) and deleted the previous versions of Skype from my computer but it appears that even with the older version I still get the Update Required screen.

Is there a way to use an older version of Skype that won't result in an Update Required screen?
