How to change 'minimize window' functionality back to pre-Sequoia 15.3

Since the last software update, every time I want to minimize a window/app, I have to first click the green icon in the corner of the window, as the minimize option (middle) is now disabled. This for some inexplicable reason slides the whole window over to the right, and I am then able to click the middle - minimize - button. This is RIDICULOUS; I used to be able to just click once and the whole window would minimize right down. I now have to click TWICE - why?! What on earth is the point of having the window slide over to the right, if in fact I want it completely out of the way?! Doh! Does anyone know how to get it back to the previous functionality, where I could make the window go right out of the way with one click? Thanks.

Stage Manager is disabled in settings (I don't even know what it is!).
However I've just found a way to get it how it used to be with sort of one click - there's a drop-down menu in the green button & I just have to click 'exit full screen' - this allows the toolbar at the bottom of the screen to be visible, & also enables the middle button to be used to minimize right down to the toolbar.

Yes, that's what I said - exit full screen. Glad it makes sense now!

If the window is set to full screen, you need to exit that before you can minimize the window. As I recall, it's been like that since full screen was introduced.

For windows that aren't full screen, the minimize button is available and works as it always has.

If you had said the windows were sliding off to the left, I might have guess you were seeing Stage Manager. That can be disable in Settings>Desktop & Dock.

It seems that today, in the MacOS 15.3.2 "minor" release, the situation worsened beyond repair, as Apple completely removed the window-control buttons from the top left of the window, and now ANY action on the window (Close, Zoom, Minimize) requires not only two clicks - but also a selection from a popup!!!!!

The window buttons were not removed.

Try booting into Safe Mode then restart normally. Sometimes that will fix anomalies.

This is horrifying, and a serious degradation of the whole Mac experience, to the point of switching to another OS.

The issue is now not in "full screen" state or any other state, but rather with each and every window of MacOS.

I looked around but have NOT found any way to revert to the older UI.

The whole thing is very new (I upgraded this morning) but maybe someone will find a way to revert this.

I never use it — however a single click works for me in Sequoia 15.3.1... to minimize as expected.

You can try making some changes and see if it restores your function(?)
