what are the best document scanners for Mac Studio, Sequoia 15.3.1

I have boxes of documents I would like to scan. What would be a good, fast portable scanner?

Epson has a range of very good document scanners. I suggest looking at the DS series. The individual models range from 25-85 ppm and there is even a large format model.

I have a DS-530-II and it works beautifully ... text, greyscale, color, single sided, double sided (duplex) scanning. Paper sizes from 2.0" to 8.5" wide, 50 sheet capacity, 35 ppm. For me it was the right balance between cost & speed.

While the DS series are small & light enough to move around, I wouldn't exactly call them portable. And "portable" scanner is not going to give you the speed, capacity or usability you will want for "boxes of documents.:

I use Vuescan for all my scanning and it works perfectly with the DS-530.

Fast isn't compatible with inexpensive. If you have as many as you say look for one that has multiple document loading. VueScan (Epsons require a working driver) can scan multiple pages of jpegs or pdfs into one document. Also if you have documents with text on both sides you may want to get a scanner that does double sided scanning.

Another thing to consider is pages/min, the ultimate resolution you'll need and AirPrint compatibility. Any scanner listed in this Apple document will be compatible with AirPrint and your Mac: About AirPrint - Apple Support

So do your due diligence and visit the major manufactures, Canon, Epson, Brother, and HP, to see which models they have that will meet your working budgetary requirements.

FYI, no Epson scanners including the DS & ES series are on that list. Neither are Canon scanners. And I wouldn't expect them to be. Scanners are not printers.

Airprint only does scanning, in a limited fashion, with the so-called multifunction /aka "all in one" printers. The two Epson Workforce All-In-Ones (printer/scanner/copier) that have ADFs (auto document feeders) are on that list, but they scan at a miserable 5 pages per minute.
