Air print on Samsung M283X printer

Here are the facts from my experience with Samsung M283X printer

1) After iOS 17.x, devices could no longer AirPrint (My phone, wife phone, newer iPads)

2) Older devices running iOS / Pad OS less than 17.0 ... WORK FINE!!!?????

3) So clearly Apple has changed something beginning with iOS 17

4) Unfortunately, Samsung handed their printers off to HP and there is NO FIRMWARE UPDATE to make them compatible with iOS 17+

iPhone 14 Pro, iOS 18

You have no idea.

Otherwise I would have no explanation for the fact an AirPrint printer would stop working with an iOS release.

I’ve seen AirPrint get tangled with printer-self-generated certificates that either don’t get re-issued and need to be reset, or that somehow don’t get self-re-issued correctly. (The printer reset or printer network reset usually fixes this, at least temporarily.)

If you have any add-on “coffee shop” VPN apps installed, remove all of those apps, force-restart, and test again.

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone (or iPad) > Reset Network Settings

As part of your troubleshooting, was the printer itself reset, or was the printer networking reset where that’s an available option? Sometimes that clears printing and configuration issues.

That Apple Support article is incomplete at best. I’m aware of various printers not listed there, based on previous discussions around here.

Here’s a third-party posting of a Samsung manual for that series printer (Samsung “M283x series M282x M262x”), and that includes section covering AirPrint configuration:

Still curious if that document addresses the OP's specific model printer. A "Samsung M283X printer" appears to be a specific printer, whereas that Samsung manual only describes a "series".

There is no doubt AirPrint unequivocally includes the following:

  • Samsung Xpress M2830DW
  • Samsung Xpress M2835DW
  • Samsung Xpress M2836DW

Manufacturers seem fond of complex naming conventions.

Otherwise I would have no explanation for the fact an AirPrint printer would stop working with an iOS release.
