2022 Honda HRV USB Port for Apple CarPlay

I have been having an issue with the usb port that only allows me to connect to Apple CarPlay. The usb port will not charge my phone no matter if it’s a genuine Apple cable or aftermarket. There was also an error message appearing on the infortainment system that would shut off my radio and reboot after 10 minutes. I brought to the Honda dealership and they mentioned that they were not able to do anything due to the battery used in the car. It’s not allowing enough electricity to flow through the USB port to charge. They’ve tried with multiple phones (android and iPhone) and none of them are charging yet they are losing battery when connected to this specific port. The service tech said that any iPhone after the iPhone8 will not be compatible to charge and be connected to Apple car play simultaneously. This goes for the newer 2025 vehicles as well. If the Apple CarPlay does not have a USC port specifically for Apple CarPlay it will not charge your phone. The service tech recommended me to an after market place to see if they’d be able to help but I bought the car from Honda itself with an extended warranty. It looks like I’m paying extra money for nothing for my problems not to be solved. Be aware of this technology issue!!! Red Flag 🚩
