iMovie to DVD for a DVD Player

I made a movie in iMovie ... just a photo slideshow with music. I want to put it on DVD to play on a normal DVD player on the TV. I have burned it to multiple discs in multiple formats and when I put the DVD into the DVD player it says "format not supported". I can see the file on the DVD on the TV but it won't play.

Is there a software that will convert it so that it will play on a DVD that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?

You need a DVD authoring app like Roxio Toast Titanium to create a "playable" DVD. There are other authoring apps out there but IMHO Toast is the best of the lot plus it is supported.

Follow the instructions in Toast, but basically the procedure is to export your video from iMovie, import that file into Toast, set up your DVD project and then burn to disk.

I use Cisdem DVD Burner, it costs $39.99/year. I've burned 7 DVDs so far, and I did run into an issue with one of them - there was some distortion in the video and audio. I reached out to customer support, and they updated the software to resolve it. Overall, it's been a decent experience, and I think the program is worth considering.
