Why is iPhone 16 Pro Max and Apple Watch 10 measuring excessive distance compared to steps?

Wife and I each have iPhones 16 Pro Max and iWatch 10. All have current iOS revisions. Wife system is giving excessive distance measurement vs steps. My system does not have this issue. We have compared settings and both match. What could be the problem and how do we resolve it?

Here is an example:

I think it has something to do with Work Out app on the watch recording driving miles and adding to the total distance. We are using Pedometer ++. If work out is on then Pedometer ++ gives unrealistic results for miles vs steps (extremely high miles). Today she tried without Work Out and the distance vs steps is reasonable.

But I don’t have this issue with my system. We checked the settings and we both match.

The Apple Watch estimates steps and distance by using the movement of the watch on your watch arm.

If you push a stroller, suing both hands, for example, your watch will count less steps.

But, if you move your watch arm without actually walking, your watch will also count steps. Some users reported, that they gain steps while knitting, riding their bike, using a broom, etc.

If the default Apple Workout app is more accurate, I would use this workout app to exercise.
