Why is my iPhone 16 Pro charging to 100% despite setting a 90% limit?

I just updated my iphone 16 pro to system 18.3.1. i noticed that even though i have set my charging limit to 90% but it kept on charging until 100% which is not according to the set limit i did..this is not good and i hope apple gonna fix it soon coz we need to protect our battery’s life isn’t. Hope to hear soon.thanks

Nothing to fix. This is normal.


Regardless of your Charge Limit setting, the battery is going to charge to 100% "occasionally", according to Apple's documentation. This information is pretty much buried in the document though. I added the red border in the picture below because the print is much smaller and lighter than the surrounding other print in the support document.





No one really knows how often "occasionally" might be. For me, it was 3-4 times a month, sometimes more. Other users report higher and lower rates.


My opinion......worth about how much you paid to view this page.....Charge Limits are more of a gimmick than anything else. Apple went for 15+ years without them. That's why I ignore the Charge Limit settings and set up the battery for Optimized Battery Charging and connect the power adapter to the phone at night and leave it connected all night.....every night.


On other iPhones that I have owned, I get 5+ years on the battery using this method, so that's fine with me. If someone else gets another month or two of battery life using the Charge Limits, I could care less.


My battery starts at 100% every morning. If I used Charge Limits, I would have to charge the battery more often. That counts in the wear and tear category.
