Ex-partner's usernames and passwords for apple.com found in Passwords app on my device

Hi, I have noticed a couple of username / passwords saved in my Passwords application. These have been added by my ex partner in 2020 which is really scary as we went through a bad divorce and I'm concerned she somehow compromised my computer. There are two user name / passwords set up for website: apple.com. One user name has my ex partners details and the other mine (both are created by her and I've never seen them before). I am really shocked to see this and want to know what the implications are. Genuine thanks in advance to anyone who has been through the same or can shed light on it.

The presence of the password doesn't mean much - in fact, in this context, it probably means almost nothing.

All it means is that *at some point in time* she logged on to her Apple Account on your machine, and the OS (helpfully?) saved the username and password. It could have been from many years ago (the Passwords app should tell you when the password was saved, to give you some idea).

What it does not mean is that it in any way gives her access to your system or your data.

There's also nothing to say that it's still current - she may have changed her password and what you have there is old/expired.

Feel free to delete it, though. Might be wise to do anyway so she can't claim you were using her account.

Thanks so much for the reply. The 'last modified' date was from 2020 but we separated in 2016 and lived in different houses since, so it would have been impossible for her to use my computer, unless remotely accessed. The other weird thing is that there was another login with my name saved (modified on exactly the same date as hers). The passwords were simply my name on mine and her name on hers. I'd never use such a weak password. And the username is not an email address. I'm not sure what a simple username and weak password would access on an OS.

It really gave me the creeps to see these saved details which were created by her. I just need to understand why they were created and what they were used for.
