Windows 11 PC can't see M4 Mac Mini on network - Mac can see PC

Not much to say other than I've researched this problem and have found no solution. My Mac Mini is a replacement for an iMac 2019. The iMac had no problems being discovered and the iMac was used to set up the Mac Mini before sending the iMac back to Apple for credit.

The Windows 11 PC is seen by the Mac and the Mac can connect to its file shares. The Windows PC can't see the Mac but can get to the file shares using File Explorer: file://192.168.xxx.xxx. That would be fine except that I use iCloud for my documents and I get an error message if I try to access an iCloud document. This happens despite the fact that Windows 11 has the iCloud app installed with the iCloud Disk piece activated.

Both machines are in the same default Workgroup and have Network Discovery turned on. And since connections of-a-sort can work, the basics for network sharing on both machines is functional. I could live with getting to the Mac Mini using its IP address if not for the iCloud problem.

If you can help, I surely would appreciate it but stock answers that are a decade old would be pointless.

TIA,

Mike

Try to help as much as I can.

W11 cannot "see" Mac but can connect via IP address, unfortunately this is quite common and I don't have a solution. However, you might just "Add a network location" on your W11 machine to easily connect to your Mac.

I don't quite understand your iCloud question. If you use iCloud on the Mac, files are constantly uploaded to Apple server whenever there is a change, and on your W11 machine it will receive the update automatically from Apple server. You do not need to connect to your Mac in order to access files on iCloud since you already have iCloud app installed on W11. Unless, perhaps you connect to your Mac from W11, and dig into iCloud folder on your Mac and try to open a file? It does not work probably because the file was not there on your Mac, it was an image created to point to a file on iCloud server. Opening the file this way most likely did not trigger your Mac to download the actual file from iCloud server and serve it to your W11 machine.
