How can I filter comments by date with the most recent answer first?

I hate scrolling through tons of comments to the original question that are like 15 years old to look for the most recent answer. Technology changes so often and so fast that we should be able to filter the results of comments by the most recent comment coming up first. Many old answers don't work anymore.

Top right of the screen, where your profile icon is located. Click it and select "Preferences" to go to your profile preferences. Scroll down to "Other Preferences" and change the sort order to "Newest First" or whatever suits your fancy.

I was so excited to read your answer to my question until I went to my preferences and saw that I already had "Newest" selected. So I am still confused. I am going to go to a question that has a lot of comments and see if the order works as you said. I'm thinking that maybe I wasn't signed in when I went to a question where the comments weren't filtered by "Newest" first.

Thanks so much for your answer!!!
