How do I change the Lock Screen WITHOUT changing the other one?

When I change the Lock Screen I do not generally want to change the rest of my experience, but iPadOS seems to know better. I don’t want to change my main background, just the Lock Screen.

Any ideas?

While your Lock Screen and Home Screen wallpaper can be totally different images, they are configured as a pair. Simply create individual wallpaper-pairs - and then switch between pairs as your mood dictates.

You can have many defined pairs of wallpaper, between which you can quickly switch without editing the existing wallpapers and/or the associated lock-screen widgets.

iPad Wallpaper can be set and changed from the iPad lock screen and from iPad settings:

Yes, of course I understand that, but I have my Home Screen set up already exactly as I want it. I don’t want to re-create it, and there does not seem to be a way to copy it either. (Apple Engineering, are you listening?).

It seems overly restrictive to force me to deal with them as a pair when they very clearly do not need to be. Earlier versions of iOS supported it.
