iPad mini 2 not connecting to new wifi router

My Dad has just got new wifi, supplied by Three mobile. He has an iPad mini 2nd gen wifi only. That iPad will not connect to his new wifi. We have tried turning wifi modem off & then rebooting the iPad. The iPad will find the wifi network but will not accept the password. The password is correct as we have connected Dad's iPhone, TV, Kindle etc to the new wifi. Please can anyone help. Many thanks

Consider that your Router, to which you are attempting to connect, may be configured to require support for security features that are not supported by older versions of iOS.

If you have an older iPad and your router is configured for WPA3 or WPA3/WPA2 mixed authentication, you will need to change this to WPA2 PSK(AES). Newer models of iPad support WPA3.
