My MacBook seems to be stuck on Launchpad page. I tried a and reset and all of the reset keystrokes I could find online. I am in the process of trying to run the battery down but not sure how long that will take. My mousepad will move the arrow in the screen but nothing when selected. The display bar above the keyboard seems to be functional. Any ideas?

You can always force quit a shutdown by holding the power button/TouchID for ~6-10 sec.
